Crosslight PICS3D 2023

PICS3D software is a 3D finite element simulator of photonic integrated circuits and is used for optical, electrical, and thermal simulation of edge and surface emitting laser diodes, semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOA), and other active waveguide devices.

In this software, two-dimensional or three-dimensional semiconductor equations (drift-diffusion, Poisson, etc.) are coupled to optical modes in the longitudinal and transverse directions to calculate optical characteristics such as the optical gain of quantum wells, quantum wires, and quantum dots, the spontaneous emission rate, and other characteristics.

PICS3D is used to design and simulate the following devices:
