Phast is a software for outcome analysis that is used by safety engineers to assess the risk of industrial activities, and to determine the risks and potential casualties of accidents.

Predicting and modeling accidents before they occur has always been one of the aspirations of safety engineers. There are several techniques and methods in this regard. But modeling the outcome of accidents without the use of expert software is very time consuming and mostly associated with errors. 

 

Phast  software is one of several products developed by DNV, one of the pioneers in industrial hazard and accident assessment. As a result, this software is recognized as one of the decision tools of companies and governments in industrial hazards and public safety.

Phast  has been extensively reviewed and evaluated. In addition, the results of a separate study of the comprehensive UDM outcome model  presented by DNV show that both the theory and the ability of this model to predict events are very efficient. This particular software modeling of fire, explosion and liberation  of toxic substances in industrial plants and is now the world’s largest oil and gas companies have bought and used .
Modeling the consequences of potential accidents in a process unit is one of the most important steps in risk assessment. This step involves modeling the release of substances into the environment, followed by modeling the consequences of toxicity, ignition, or explosion of these substances. Today, this step is performed by computer software due to the complexity of modeling relationships and their time-consuming solution. Phast software models   events such as fires and explosions of tanks and pipes and graphically displays the results including the range of impact. These results are used in planning emergency response and risk privacy of complexes.

Additional options for specifying ignition sources: Based on an ignition model presented by the UK Health and Safety Executive, there are new options to improve risk analyses of larger, potentially catastrophic releases. Safeti now supports Type-based ignition areas and provides a list of 22 pre-defined types of ignition sources, each with their own unique ignition properties.

Advanced crater modelling for buried pipeline ruptures: Alongside the existing Cleaver crater model, we’ve introduced a new Defined area model for a more detailed analysis of CO2 pipeline ruptures, validated against COSHER experiments. This update allows you to simulate the impact of pipeline ruptures with more precision and accuracy.

Automated selection of the Miller model for hydrogen jet fires: To streamline your work, we’ve implemented an automated selection of the new Miller model for hydrogen-related jet fires.

Vulnerabilities for jet fires following delayed ignition and a maximum delayed ignition time for flash fire and explosion risks: These options give you more accuracy and flexibility when representing such situations as evacuation of people from or near a facility.
