IHS GeoSyn 2D is a 2D forward-modeling application that helps geoscientists predict petrophysical properties such as lithology, fluid composition, and porosity from seismic data. GeoSyn 2D also helps users better understand the sensitivity of seismic data to lateral and vertical changes in rock properties along and in between well boreholes.
The GeoSyn 2D course includes hands-on exercises and covers the following topics:
•Create and edit a simple Wedge Model and display a tuning curve
•Simultaneously generate a geologic and synthetic seismic model based on data from the following:
•Single well
•Duplicates of a well
•Multiple wells
•Model the effects that changes in porosity, lithology, fluid content, and formation thickness has on the
generated models and how they also influence faulting
•Create and display single and multiple log crossplot windows for a well(s) to better detect and color-code
areas of interest
•Use the GeoSyn2D modeling to help provide information to support, aid, and predict where to drill future
wells
