MSC ODYSSEE Solver 2025.1 is the cloud-based high-performance computing (HPC) and solver execution engine of the Hexagon ODYSSEE platform. It provides on-demand, scalable compute resources in the cloud to run CAE simulations from Hexagon’s portfolio (like MSC Nastran, Marc, Adams) and other supported third-party solvers. It eliminates the need for companies to procure, maintain, and queue for on-premises HPC clusters. Users submit solver jobs through the ODYSSEE platform, and the Solver service automatically provisions the required cloud infrastructure (CPU/GPU cores, memory), runs the job, manages the data, and shuts down the resources upon completion—all on a pay-for-what-you-use basis.
It represents the “compute muscle” of the ODYSSEE platform, enabling elastic simulation scalability and democratizing access to supercomputing-level resources.
Primary Users: Simulation Engineers, CAE Analysts, and IT Managers who need scalable, on-demand high-performance computing (HPC) resources to run CAE solver jobs without managing local hardware.

The Solver service focuses on removing the computational bottleneck from simulation workflows.
Elastic Cloud Compute:
Automatic Resource Provisioning: The service automatically selects and spins up the appropriate cloud instance types (high-memory, high-CPU, GPU-accelerated) based on the solver and model size.
Massive Scalability: Run jobs on dozens to thousands of cores on demand, overcoming local cluster limits. Perfect for large DOE/optimization studies where many jobs run in parallel.
Integrated Solver Stack:
Pre-Configured Solver Environments: Cloud machine images are pre-configured with licensed, optimized versions of supported solvers (e.g., MSC Nastran, Marc, Adams, Actran). No local installation or configuration is needed.
Broad Solver Support: Primarily Hexagon solvers, with growing support for key third-party solvers through partnerships or containerization.
Cost Management & Optimization:
Pay-per-Use Model: You are charged based on core-hours (or solver token-hours) actually consumed. No cost when idle.
Budget Controls & Forecasting: Set budgets and alerts to control spending. The platform can provide cost estimates before job submission.
Spot/Preemptive Instances: Option to use lower-cost cloud compute options for non-urgent jobs to reduce costs.
Workflow Integration:
Seamless with ODYSSEE CAE: The standard path: manage data/process in ODYSSEE CAE → submit job → ODYSSEE Solver executes on cloud → results stream back to ODYSSEE CAE for visualization.
API-Driven: Can integrate with existing in-house tools or scripts to submit job sprogrammatically.
There are no client-side system requirements for the Solver service itself, as it runs in Hexagon’s cloud.
User/Client Requirements:
A device with a web browser and internet connection to access the ODYSSEE platform interface for job submission and monitoring.
No local high-performance workstation, license servers, or compute nodes are needed.
Cloud/Service Side: Entirely managed by Hexagon on major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform). The service auto-scales to meet demand.
