Harmony Enterprise 2024.1 Release Notes (2024/04/14)

Ratio Enhancements

Multiple Ratios can be Linked Together

Forecast analyses now support linking multiple ratio trends to a single decline curve. (e.g. GOR and WOR linked to an Oil Decline) These ratio trends are used to generate ratio forecasts, which can be used in broader Harmony Enterprise tools such as Forecast Consolidations, Production vs Forecast, Economics, and more.

Ratios can be Plotted versus a Cumulative Axis

Ratio trends can now be generated versus cumulative primary fluid production (e.g. GOR vs Cumulative Oil). When linked to an appropriate decline curve, the ratio trends can also be viewed against a time x-axis. Conversely, ratio versus time trends can also be viewed against a cumulative production x-axis when linked to an appropriate decline. These new ratio trends can be used similarly to the existing ratio versus time trends and extend to broader Harmony Enterprise tools.

Typewell Ratio Enhancements

The following enhancements have been made to the Typewell worksheets:

  • When two Typewell declines are linked, a calculated ratio is generated. This calculated ratio can be plotted on its respective ratio Typewell worksheet.
  • When a ratio Typewell and a Typewell decline are linked, a ratio forecast is generated. This ratio forecast can be plotted on its respective rate Typewell worksheet.
  • Typewell ratio trends can now be generated versus a cumulative production x-axis.

Diagnostic Dashboards

The Diagnostics tab now allows you to create a dashboard view with multiple plots. You can still view a single plot, but you can also now view multiple plots to display the production, injection, and pressure data for single or multiple entities for visualization and comparison. Pre-made dashboards are also now included with installation.

Faults

Faults can now be added to your Conventional Extended Numerical Models. The existing grid cell boundaries are used to define the location of the fault and a Fault Transmissivity Multiplier can be entered to model whether the fault is sealing or leaky. This will help account for the affected connectivity between wells and allow for a better model match.

Relative Permeability Curves

Relative permeability curves can now be modified within the Extended Numerical Models to make your history matching process faster and easier.

CO2 Injection

CO2 injection into a saline reservoir can now be modeled using the Conventional Extended Numerical Model. A modification to the black oil simulator now accounts for the solubility of CO2 in water and can now allow you to predict the injectivity and storativity for CO2 injection.

Gas Cap on FMB

Gas Cap support has been added to the FMB analysis. This enhancement allows for additional pressure support for the material balance equation within the FMB calculations. An initial estimate of ‘m’, the ratio of gas cap volume to oil in place volume, is required for calculations.

Injection IPR

Injection IPRs can now be calculated and drawn in both Gas IPR/TPC and Oil IPR/TPC worksheets. The Gas Injection IPR leverages the Simplified C,n equation. The Oil IPR/TPC worksheet leverages a linear IPR trend with constant injectivity and can be used for modelling water injection rates.

Moving Average

Added an option to calculate the moving average of any dataset in the Production Editor. This can be done by using the newly added Mavg function in the Equation Editor for custom calculated datasets.

Additional Datasets

Additional datasets were added to the Production Editor. They can now be used for creating Diagnostics plots and to create custom calculated datasets and attributes. These datasets include:

  • Gas Pseudo-pressure
  • Normalized Rates and Normalized Pressures for all phases
  • Normalized Flowing Time
  • Material Balance Time and Material Balance Square Root Time for Oil, Gas, and Water
  • Linear Superposition Time for Oil, Gas, and Water

Minor improvements and resolved issues from Harmony Enterprise 2023.2

Reservoir

  • Choke Diameter can be displayed on the URM plots.
  • Forecast with Smooth/Arps decline drawdown in Extended Numerical Models.

Forecast

  • Calculation for cumulative VRR was ignoring prior production. This issue has been fixed.
  • The forecast portion of a consolidation analysis can now display the number of producing wells

Optimize

  • Advanced Forecast now supports wellhead forecasts using Optimize Configurations with chokes.
  • Within Advanced Forecast, the IPR/TPC plot can be minimized to allow the Forecast plot to be maximized.

General

  • A few notes and minor enhancements were done to the Database Import Wizard for clarity.
  • Custom Groups can now display Created By, Last Modified Date/By, Number of Entities and Notes on the Attributes tab.
  • Your selection for Display Name Format is now included on the import dialog to help ensure you have chosen the appropriate option.
  • VRR and Kabir worksheets can now be duplicated. The duplicate will include the patterns and allocation factors from the original.
  • The Database Manager can now be resized to easily show all the options.
  • Choke Diameter can now be imported from a flat file into a pre-built dataset in the Production Editor.
  • The Select Subset button is more discoverable in the Attributes Tab.
  • The expand/collapse state of the Analysis Manager now persists between sessions.

Harmony Enterprise 2023.1 Release Notes (2023/04/17)

Wellhead forecasting for Extended Numerical Models

Wellhead forecasting is now available for Extended Numerical Models (single well and multi-well). Previously, wellhead forecasting was only available for Analytical Models and Numerical Models. With this enhancement, you can incorporate wellbore flow rates and pressure losses into Extended Numerical Models, forecast into the future using a specified wellhead pressure constraint, and include changing wellbore configurations in forecasts to compare potential wellbore intervention strategies.

Quickly produce sensitivities on Extended Numerical Model forecasts

Extended Numerical Model calculations previously ran from the beginning of production. Now, if only forecast parameters have changed since the model was last run, only the forecast period is recalculated, making the forecast optimization workflow faster. This enhancement applies to all Extended Numerical Models (single well and multi-well, conventional and unconventional).

Anisotropy for Conventional Extended Numerical Models

Define different permeabilities in the x- and y-directions for Conventional Extended Numerical Models (single-well and multi-well). You can achieve better history matching and create more accurate forecasts for the plays where permeability depends on direction with this enhancement.

Changing skin with time for Extended Numerical Models

The option to change skin multiple times throughout well production has been added. You can model skin changes during the well’s production history and during the forecast. Changes in skin can be added to models using a ramp or step change. This enhancement applies to all Extended Numerical Models (single well and multi-well, conventional and unconventional).

Different geomechanics for matrix and SRV regions for Unconventional Extended Numerical Models

Different geomechanics for matrix Geomechanics behavior for Unconventional Extended Numerical models has been available for several releases. This means permeability and formation compressibility can vary as functions of pressure. In previous versions, permeability and compressibility variations with pressure were modeled as the same in the matrix and SRV region. You can now set models up to use different variations of permeability with pressure between the matrix and SRV regions. This enhancement helps with more accurate modeling of the fracture network response during depletion and SRV regions for Unconventional Extended Numerical Models.

Performance Improvements for Common Operations

We strive for continuous enhancements to your user experience in Harmony Enterprise. Several improvements have been made to reduce load times of key day-to-day operations for Harmony Enterprise users. Specific improvements have been made for:

  • Switching between entities (60% improvement)
  • Loading and saving URM worksheets (40% improvement)
  • Loading and saving Optimize worksheets (25% improvement)

In a low latency environment users can expect to see improved speeds in the above areas.

We have also added a troubleshooting log feature to capture network performance metrics that impact Harmony Enterprise operations.

Minor improvements and resolved issues from Harmony Enterprise 2022.3
